Goddard flies flag with second spot in US

A NORFOLK teenager has underlined his golfing talent by finishing runner-up in a tournament in Las Vegas.
Sully Goddard finished two-under-par to take second place in a World Stars of Junior Golf event staged over 54 holes at Las Vegas.

Goddard, whose handicap index is 1.2, was the only UK golfer in a field of 20 competing in the age category for 13 and 14-year-olds.

The Bawburgh Golf Club member showed his mettle in coping with very different conditions to the ones he’s used when playing on home soil. His highlight was a brilliant four-under-par 68 on day two.
Goddard, 14, said: “The initial challenge when coming to compete in Vegas was getting used to the course conditions – green speeds, ball flight etc. The 100-plus degrees temperature was probably the most difficult.
“It was interesting to see the quality of international players. I was really happy with my overall performance and to finish second was a huge achievement for me”
