Greenkeeper Tiffany Mills takes Norfolk Ladies Title
The Norfolk Ladies’ County Golf Championship took place this year at Eaton Golf Club. The final featured Harriet Allsebrook from Hunstanton and Tiffany Mills from Ryston Park.
It was a thrilling match of exciting golf with plenty of birdies. The first nine holes were tightly contested, with the pair all square at the turn. This trend continued for the next few holes until what turned out to be a pivital moment on the 15th. With Allsebrook already in the hole, Mills had a 25ft putt to halve the hole. She duly holed her putt and never looked back, winning the next two holes to secure an impressive 2 and 1 victory on the 17th hole and win Championship.
Mills said: “It’s a dream come true to have won this tournament, especially after being runner-up twice and entering for 14 years. I owe everything to my friend and caddy Ann Fletcher.”
Monday will see Tiffany back to the day job as the greenkeeper at Ryston Park Golf Club. Her next major competition is the Critchley Salver Open at Sunningdale Golf Club.
The Ladies Championship spanned three glorious days of back-to-back sunshine, featuring a field of 26 players with handicaps ranging from +1.6 to 14. The first day consisted of 36-hole stroke play, with Harriet Allsebrook emerging as the winner of both the Lady Betty Trafford Cup (36-hole scratch) and the Hannaford Cup (36-hole handicap) with a gross score of 145 and a nett score of 147. The Team Trophy went to the Bawburgh team of: Jill Gooch, Doris Thomas & Christine Frazer.
